My mother has been told, "your daughter wears makeup strange" and "what is she thinking" regarding my makeup choices. !rolleyes

How rude of them. Who cares if you have a different style? Brush it off because they probably want a rise out of you. Stay away.

Typical conformists dissing anyone who do it different. Be yourself and live your life not theirs. Makeup is art just like painting or sculpture. There's a difference between asking about make up style and questioning thinking.

I haven't had that much trouble other than people calling me cakey when starting out. Which is true.

Most of my makeup looks are quite natural, so no complaints there. I save the full glam for special occasions and nights out.

Is it possible that your makeup could by any chance be mismatched or inappropriate?

No not really. Unless I put a lot of highlighter on and pencil my eyebrows in thick, they'll just notice and bite their lip.

I don't think so, It's just not soft glam or natural which is not the look I want anyway.

I just don't give them the argument they're seeking. I just say that it's a style like fashion then reference their 80s perms and mullets... that shuts them.
