Hey there

I currently have an i7-8565U and racking my brain whether it's worth the cash to upgrade to an Intel I9 processor (costs $700). Is there much of a difference? Does it give me that much of an advantage gaming wise for streaming and other demanding stuff>

My current processor

Intel® Core™ i7-8565U Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.60 GHz)

8 MB Intel® Smart Cache Cache
4 Cores
8 Threads
4.60 GHz Max Turbo Frequency
U - Ultra-low power
8th Generation

The i9 processor

Intel® Core™ i9-9900KS Processor (16M Cache, up to 5.00 GHz)

16 MB Intel® Smart Cache Cache
8 Cores
16 Threads
5.00 GHz Max Turbo Frequency
9th Generation

There's a large price difference between the two processors for only 10% to 15% better performance... you'll probably find that next year's i7 will produce 10% - 15% better performance speeds anyway.

i7 is more than good enough for hobbyist gaming.

I'd like to own an i9 processor but can't justify forking out the money unless for professional reasons like a career in video editing and rendering things.

Of course, you should go with i9 but I think as technology is transforming rapidly that's why you should have some patience and hopefully, in few months, you would able to get i9 core in less price.
